Hurricane Hanna isn’t directly threatening the Grand Strand right now, but people are starting to get ready, just in case.
At The Home Depot in Murrells Inlet, the hurricane preparedness section of the store is stocked with everything from batteries and flashlights to tarps and generators.
Home depot associate Dave Baldwin said the supplies have been on display inside the store since just before the beginning of June.
Baldwin said with Hurricane Hanna already on people's minds, generators are a big selling item.
"People are beginning to think that if we lose power they don't want to lose what they have in their refrigerator and freezer and so they are buying some generators." said Baldwin.
In addition to supplies like batteries, the Murrells Inlet Home Depot also has a hurricane tracking map which is updated a couple of times a day with the most current information from the National Hurricane Center.
If a storm does threaten the Grand Strand, Baldwin said their main goal is to make sure people have what they need to survive and when it comes time, to rebuild.
