HYLDA BASS
Mrs. Hylda Inabinet Bass, widow of Robert “Bob” King Bass Sr., died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence.
Mrs. Bass was born April 14, 1927, in Calhoun County. She was the daughter of the late Jimmie Franklin Inabinet and the late Lillie Wannamaker Inabinet. She was a graduate of St. Matthews High School and Coker College, class of 1948, and was a retired teacher from the Darlington County Schools. She was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, a longtime member of the Hallie Byrd Circle and XYZ, and treasurer of UMW for many years. Mrs. Bass faithfully volunteered for the local chapter of the American Red Cross.
Surviving are her two children Robert King Bass Jr. of Hartsville and Elizabeth “Beth” Wannamaker Bass of Atlanta, Ga., brother David Allen Inabinet and sister-in-law Lilyanne Peterkin Inabinet, also of Hartsville, brother James Ray Inabinet of Columbia, cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Oct. 29, 2008, at St. Luke United Methodist Church with the Revs. Drs. Ben and Dora Gafford, and the Rev. Phil Thrailkill officiating. The service will conclude at Magnolia Cemetery and Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home is serving the family.

JUANITA GREEN
Funeral services for Juanita Mary Green, 66, will be held at 2: p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Dr. Gary Colboch and John Hamilton will officiate with burial in Darlington Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 30, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Green died Saturday, Oct. 25. Born in Erie, Pa., she was a daughter of Harry T. East and Betty Jane Kenney. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She retired from Harris Teeter after 22 years of service. She was a very caring and loving person who loved her kids and her country.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Conley E. and Teresa Green of Concord, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, B. J. and Steve Carson of Longmont, Colo.; sister, Arlene Hefren of Erie, Pa.; aunt, Ramona Marcum of Columbia; grandchildren, Sunshine Green of Longmont, Colo., Robert Green of Charlotte, N.C., Chris Green of Charlotte, N.C., Jessica Nelson Howell, Kimberly Nelson, Leslie Nelson all of N.C.; great-grandchild, McKenzie Lynn Howell.

Mrs. Norwood, widow of Lawrence Norwood, died Friday, Oct. 24. Born in Darlington County, she was a daughter of the late Frank R. and Della Collins Stokes. She was a longtime member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and was employed for many years at J. L. Coker & Co. in the Children’s Department. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Heather Norwood of Hartsville, Alan and Debby Norwood of Hartsville; daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Jimmy Bryant of Hartsville; sister, Margaret S. Abbott of Darlington; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Gene “Red” and Patsy Stokes of Hartsville; grandchildren (spouse), Char P. (Stephen) Brown, Russ (Miriam) Norwood, Tennille P. (Mark) White, Spencer (Jessica) Petty, Kevin (Sarah) Norwood, Haydon Norwood; great-grandchildren, Gavin Brown, Daniel Norwood, Ryder Brown, Connor Petty. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura N. Petty.

COLZIE BLACKMON
CAMDEN - Funeral services for Colzie Watson Blackmon were conducted by Dr. Cleatus Blackmon and the Rev. Condy Richardson at Hermitage Baptist Church, Camden, on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. with a private burial. Memorial gifts to Hermitage Baptist Church are preferred in lieu of flowers.
Colzie Watson Blackmon, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Springdale Health Care Center in Camden. Born in Lee County to Henry Clay and Julia Arrants Watson, Mrs. Blackmon graduated from Central High School and attended Columbia College. She was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church since 1935.
She is survived by sons, Paul E. Blackmon (Doris) of Tigerville and Dr. David W. Blackmon (Gay) of Hartsville. Grandchildren include Heather Black-mon of Raleigh, N.C., Rachel (Clark) Reyes of Knoxville, Tenn., and Rebekah (Matthew) Steen of Columbia, and great grandchildren, Ella Marie and Abigale Watson Reyes. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Blackmon was predeceased by W. Paul Blackmon, (husband), Pat, McDonald, Bob, and Bill Watson (brothers), Bernice Marsh and Eunice Johnson (sisters).

HILDRED BUDDY WINBURN
Funeral services for Hildred Buddy Winburn, 79, a local businessman who passed away of Alzheimer’s related complications on Oct. 25, 2008, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Christian Fellowship Assembly of God with the Rev. Marvin Huneycutt and the Revs. Earnest and Joy Bowman officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mr. Winburn was born May 2, 1929, in Hartsville, a son of the late Coit and Lucile Boan Winburn. He attended local public schools before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps serving in the Pacific on Guam in post World War II. Later, he attended Florence-Darlington Technical College. He was an employee of Sonoco Products Company for 22 years. With his wife Helen Byrd Winburn they operated Winburn’s Grocery on Society Avenue in Hartsville for 27 years and a rental business in the North Myrtle Beach area. They cerebrated 59 years of marriage in August 2008. He was a Charter member of Christian Fellowship Assembly of God in Hartsville and served as a deacon and choir member.
His legacy is passed to his wife, Helen Byrd Winburn of Hartsville; daughter, Elaine Winburn Huneycutt of Hartsville; son, Donald Allen Winburn, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Uy Winburn of Charleston; two grandchildren, Jeff Huneycutt of Hartsville and Amy Huneycutt Lindler of Prosperity; four great-grandchildren, Andrea Elizabeth Huneycutt, Kendra Leia Huneycutt, James Michael and Jacob Matthew Lindler. Other family members include a sister, Vara Nelson of Atlanta, Ga.; brother, Travis Winburn of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Cunduff, brothers, MGS Burnard Winburn, USMC Ret., and Gunther Winburn, and a son-in-law, Reggie Honeycutt.
