People came Saturday from not just Georgetown, but various parts of the Grand Strand just to get gas at $2.15 a gallon. A line formed at Gene’s Country Store where people waited on average about 15 minutes before filling up. An attendant near the pumps assisted people throughout the day by directing traffic because of the high volume of people coming to get gas.
Some people say they came from such areas as Garden City and Pawleys Island after hearing about the low prices in the area.
Most people say they didn’t mind the wait, while some others decided to look elsewhere for gasoline.
Gas in the Georgetown area is mostly around $2.24-$2.29 a gallon along Highmarket Street. Some areas in Horry County saw the price go down below the $2.50 mark.
