RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) _ Republican presidential hopeful John McCain is returning to North Carolina less than two weeks before the general election.

His campaign said Thursday that McCain will speak at a rally in Fayetteville on Tuesday. Musician Hank Williams Jr. is scheduled to perform.

The Arizona senator and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, have made several appearances in North Carolina in recent weeks, including McCain's stop in Concord last Saturday.

Democratic candidate Barack Obama was in Fayetteville on Sunday. His running mate, Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, will speak at a rally in Charlotte on Thursday.

Both parties have campaigned aggressively in North Carolina, which is considered a swing state for the general election.
