If you've driven through the small town of McColl lately you can tell they take politics seriously.
One race in particular has generated a lot of buzz there and that's the State Senate race.
The town appears to be split between supporting Dick Elliot or Bill McKown.
"You know people have different views and different opinions. It should be about the residents here," Bill McKown, State Senate Candidate District 28, said.
Last weekend Bill McKown made an appearance in McColl.
Jack's Pizza rented the space, but the owner said there was controversy surrounding it.
Ong-Kham Daoheuang said the McColl Mayor supports Dick Elliot and threatened his business if he hosted the meet and greet.
"I don't feel comfortable. He told me what to do it's my business," Daoheuang said.
News13 spoke with McColl Mayor Gary Quick he said, "I have no comment and this is not true. If anything I would want to promote business in McColl, not hurt it."
Despite what was or was not said the event still went on, supporters still came, and Daoheuang still gained business.
"I don't get involved in politics whoever comes into my store I serve," Daoheuang said.
Since the meet and greet, Daoheuang said his business hasn't suffered, and Dick Elliot also came to Jack's Pizza and apologized personally for the allegations and said he had nothing to do with it.
