Marion police offer reward in murder case

The Marion Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward in the case of the shooting death of 64-year-old George Pat Staggers.

Police said someone fired shots Sept. 26 at the Rosewood Apartments, located on Pickens Street in Marion.

Staggers was shot inside his apartment, Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson said in a previous interview.

Marion Police Chief Willie Smith said the reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those are responsible for Staggers’ death.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at (843) 423-8616 or Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at (843) 667-TIPS (8477) or (866) 369-TIPS (8477). Callers need not reveal their identities.
