It’s Halloween time, and that means its time for Scarecrows to haunt downtown Main Street in Marion. The month of October shows our Halloween spirit with 11 scarecrows “hanging around” Marion’s historic businesses district, just waiting to be chosen the Most Creative, the Most Scary, or the Most Original.
The winners will receive a HMRA gift certificate for $50. Three good witches will be judging the entries and the winners will be announced at our next Rise & Shine, Nov. 5, at 8:30 a.m. at Bridger’s Drug Store.
It's Party Time! Main Street Marion is playing host to a New Years Eve Party on Dec. 31, from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. This year’s party is a take on Truman Capote’s 1966 Black & White Ball. Come as elegant or as casual as you like, only dress in black & white, and if you're in the spirit, wear a mask.
Tickets are $50 per person and include live entertainment, cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuves. Join us and help ring in the New Year. Call the Main Street office at (843) 423-9918 for information.
We have been asked about the streetscape for downtown Main Street. Because it is so late in the year, and we know all the activities planned for December, work will not start until after Jan. 1. he work will take about five months to complete and along with a grant for the county to fix up the park across from the Court House, downtown Main Street will be able to show off in time for the FoxTrot Festival in May.
If you have any questions about Main Street Marion, or ideas, thoughts, or suggestions, please visit us in the office at 301 N Main Street.
