The second meeting of the Horry County Council ad hoc committee created to focus on the bike rallies drew quite a crowd at the Government and Justice center in Conway Tuesday night.
Dozens of people on both sides of the bike rally debated crowded in to Horry County Council chambers.
Committee members Bob Grabowski, Brent Schulz, Chairman Kevin Hardee, and council members Carl Schwartzkopf and Harold Worley listened to six people speak during the public input portion of the meeting about what they think the county should do. The speakers were mostly split right down the middle.
After public input, Horry County County administrator Danny Knight presented the committee with some recommendations his staff had come up with after the first meeting when his staff was asked to propose measures to address noise, congestion, and unruly behavior.
Some of the recommendations include limiting the number and days of permits and changes to the noise ordinance.
Knight told the committee that some of the recommendations would not only affect the bike rallies, but other activities like the Blue Crab Festival and car shows.
Committee members and council members asked questions about the recommendations and then asked Knight to come back next week with some revised recommendations.
The committee is schedule to meet again Oct. 22 at 5 p.m.
