Darlington's Main Street reacts to economic times

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The tough economic times facing the nation are without a doubt affecting Main Streets across America.

That includes many Main Streets in the Pee Dee, like the one in Darlington.

That’s where Heather Jordan owns Chameleon Art Gallery.

The business has been open for about a year, but in that short time, Jordan has seen some changes.

“There have been some big changes as far as the gallery goes as far as just standard foot traffic. People coming out, less cars are moving in our city. I noticed that was a big one.”

Jordan says the economy has affected the foot traffic, especially high fuel prices.

Regardless, though, Jordan says her business is doing pretty good and she’s looking forward to even better times in the future.
