DARLINGTON – The 26th annual South Carolina Sweet Potato Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the Darlington Public Square. A variety of foods, entertainment, more than 100 vendors, an antique car show, raffles throughout the day and of course South Carolina sweet potatoes will all be a part of the festival.
The Sweet Potato Festival is sponsored by the Pilot Club of Darlington and held in the heart of downtown Darlington, the birthplace of stock car racing. The family-oriented festival honors the vital role sweet potatoes play in the economy of the Pee Dee and South Carolina.
This year the program of entertainment promises to be the best yet, said organizers. Gather near the stage and you can be entertained from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with the following music, dance, puppets and more:
9 a.m. – Festival begins /Antique Car Show on Cashua Street
9:10 a.m. – Souls of Silas
10 a.m.– Opening ceremony and balloon release
10:20 a.m.– Puppet Love
10:50 a.m.– Patsy Hathcock Dancers
11:15 a.m.– Larry Flowers
11:30 a.m. – Curtis Boyd’s Karate teams at top of Cashua Street
11:45 a.m. – Blake Evans
12:15 p.m.– Jackie Lynn Jernigan
12:35 p.m.– Anna Mills Palatty, Miss Darlington Teen 2008
12:50 p.m. – Cecilia Hamilton Sprawls Dancers
1:15 p.m. –Chelsey and Kasey Mozingo
