Scranton man pleads guilty to gun charge

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Scranton man has pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition before U.S. District Judge R. Bryan Harwell, U.S. Attorney W. Walter Wilkins said in a press release.

Kevin Wayne Roark, 38, faces life in prison.

Florence County sheriff’s deputies seized three firearms from Roark’s residence last year when they responded to a domestic violence incident. After physically assaulting his wife, Roark pointed a shotgun at her and threatened to kill her.

Roark has previous felony convictions, including a 2002 criminal domestic violence conviction.

The case, which also was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rose Mary Parham of the Florence office as part of Project Cease Fire, an initiative of the United States Attorneys Office targeting gun crimes.
