Offices around Darlington County School District are buzzing with activity in preparation for a visit from the AdvancED Quality Assurance Review Team, a team of professionals who will judge the school district’s merits and programs as part of the new AdvancED District Accreditation Process.
If the Darlington County School District succeeds in earning the district accreditation, it will be the first school district in the Pee Dee and one of the first school districts in the state to earn the prestigious and rigorous accreditation.
AdvancED District Accreditation provides nationally recognized accreditation for the district and all of its schools. To earn AdvancED District Accreditation, the district must: 1) meet the AdvancED accreditation standards; 2) implement a continuous process of improvement; and 3) host an external review team once every five years.
Using the AdvancED Standards for Quality School Systems as a framework, the district began the process by conducting a thorough self-assessment of its strengths and opportunities for improvement. The district engaged a broad cross section of representatives from across the districts, its schools, and the broader community in its self-assessment.
The public is invited to attend the special called board meeting on Oct. 8. During the meeting the QAR team will provide an exit report and announce the team’s recommendation. The meeting will be held from 2 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. in the board/community conference room at the Darlington County School District Administrative Annex I, 102 Park Street, in Darlington.
