Coker College will hold its ninth annual social work conference on Friday, Oct. 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on campus. This year, the conference is focusing on “Developing the Capacities of Rural Communities: Inter-agency Collabora-tion.” The keynote address will be delivered by Wendell Price, deputy director of administration and program support for the S.C. Department of Social Services, at 9:30 a.m. in the Watson Theater of the Elizabeth Boatwright Coker Performing Arts Center.
Throughout the day, the social work conference will address a variety of topics including leadership, parent engagement, assault risks, social services for Hispanic/Latino families and mental health services in rural communities. Conference attendees with state social work licenses can earn six general contact hours.
Session and workshop leaders at the conference will include Wilbert Lewis of the S.C. Department of Social Services, Mary Eaddy of Pro Parents, Dr. Pat Conway of the University of North Dakota and Sharon Moon of the Pee Dee Coalition.
