South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers say a crash in Myrtle Beach sent three people to the hospital and one of them is now dead.
Horry County Coroner Robert Edge identifies the victim as 17-year old Cassidy Jones of Myrtle Beach.
SCHP trooper, Lance Corporal Bob Beres, says Jones was pronounced dead today after receiving treatment at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Lance Cpl. Beres also says the driver of the 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier involved is a 17-year old male from Conway. The other passenger that went to the hospital is 18-year old Eric Martin of Myrtle Beach.
It happened around 8:45 Friday night.
Troopers say the car was traveling west on Harbour Towne Drive near the intersection of Galley Harbour Drive in Myrtle Beach. They then say the car ran off the road and into a ditch.
Note: News 13 initially reported a fatality involved with this accident when the passenger (Jones) was not dead. News 13 was later contacted by officials at the SCHP office, and we were told a supervisor gave out incorrect information. SCHP officials say the person involved in the original report (Jones) was dead for 10 minutes on the scene, and then was later revived and taken to the hospital. SCHP officials then told us this same person (Jones) was pronounced dead Sunday.
