COWARD -- A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday after he stepped into the path of a vehicle, Florence County Coroner M.G. “Bubba” Matthews said.
Ronald Riner, 60, was struck around 6:15 p.m. on U.S. 52 in Coward.
He died shortly after he arrived at a local hospital, Matthews said.
Authorities are still trying to figure out why he stepped into traffic.
Alcohol wasn’t a factor in the crash, Matthews said.
The incident is still under investigation by law enforcement.
