Trinity Collegiate's community event to promote health, raise funds

»  Comments | Post a Comment

In an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle and being physically fit, Trinity Collegiate School is inviting the community to participate in the school’s first 5K run/walk Saturday.

Participants can register Friday and Saturday. Registration the day of the event will begin at 7:30 a.m.; the race starts at 9 a.m.

The event will be held rain or shine.

Suzan Orrico, the school’s director for development, said the run/walk event not is only a way of promoting a healthy activity, but also a way to bring the community together.

“We’re certainly trying to push — with our lunch menus and other things — a healthy lifestyle,” Orrico said. “We thought it would be a great opportunity for people to come out and meet us, and enjoy the campus. And have some fun before the holidays.

“We service the Pee Dee (and) we wanted to do something for the community,” she said.

T-shirts will be given to all pre-registered participants.

Individuals on a team of five members can qualify in their age division, as well their team can, for awards. The cost per team is $80.

Medals will be given to the top winners in three categories: overall, age group and team.

Participants also have the opportunity to win door prizes.

Checks can be made payable to Trinity Collegiate School, 5001 Hoffmeyer Road, Darlington SC 29532.

All proceeds from the event will be used to support the education of Trinity Collegiate School students.
