LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Voters have spoken, look for 'change'

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Ah, a new day.

The collect has spoken.

So, now our study of language will focus on the magic word “change.”

And it is not too early to note some that are either under way or at least predictable.

First off, there is the change in major media.

Unlike eight years ago, when the cadre was angry over a court action that stopped yet another recount of non-votes in Florida, this time, they are happy over the verdict.

Dirt digging (some of it fictional) and the one-sided blame game (even blaming a sitting president for a hurricane) will be scarce.

After all, they chose the candidate and did their un-objective best to see him through.

What we must await is the masterful spins when the elected one stubs his toes and comes up with “reasonable” explanations for the mishaps.
Another quickly observable change is with gun owners. Sales are way up.

Even those who voted for him apparently don’t believe his “common sense” stance on the Second Amendment.

And a change that was in effect even before the election: Foreign leaders are happy over the outcome for various reasons, some of them frightening.
Down the road, it is clear some other changes are imminent. Taxes will go up, but for whom?

He said nobody making over $300K will see an increase. Then he said $250K, then $200K, and his sidekick said $150K.

It would be interesting to see where Las Vegas odds-makers put the figure.

Two areas of change that must be watched: extreme environmental regulations and the move to socialism.

And don’t look for offshore drilling any time soon. More later.
