Library accepting canned goods for fees

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The public library makes a difference in the community with each life it touches. When the economy is at its worst, libraries are needed most.

During this holiday season, Marion County Library hopes to make a difference in another tangible way. Those patrons who are hungry for knowledge can turn in their books late and owed over-due fines will be given an opportunity to feed those who are hungry.

From Nov. 15 through Dec. 16, one can of food clears $1 off an overdue fine tally; two cans clear $2, etc. The library will donate the food to the Manna House in Mullins and the Marion Church of God Foodbank.
