That's Life: Where has David gone?

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Wow. The 2008 elections are over ... a part of history, and history has been made.
Whew. I can breathe, catch a breath just before the whirlwind that is the holidays.
I noticed another momumental event occuring on Nov. 5th. I have grown fond of referring to Nov. 5th affectionately. It was more than just the day after the election.
Or the day change could begin.
Or the day after the night before or whatever else you may call it.

For me, it is a day that shall live in infamy. For me, Nov. 5 was the day the junk e-mail died.
I'm serious. After 20 months of receiving e-mails from Hillary, Barack, John, John, John (I'm not sure who the third John is, but I'm sure I got e-mail from him regarding his bid for reelection to something somewhere ... and probably, in a weak moment, I contributed to his campaign...).

I am loving the near-empty in box and coping quite well the volumes fewer messages. The campaign literature aside, I detest most chain letters about chain letters and such. I think junk e-mails, viral e-mails and videos are all meant to exploit something or the other and are increasingly becoming less based in fact and reality and are increasingly mean-spirited ... I try hard not to read them, but occasionally I open one, of course by mistake, and like seeing the wreck of an 18-wheeler and a moped ... I just have to stare...
I rarely read these kinds of things all the way through ... I typically stop when a word or a phrase ticks me off and the blood pressure starts to rise.
And while, yes, people are entitled to their opinions, they most often have the responsibility to keep those opinions on the blog sites and flog sites where they belong. If I am interested, I'll find you. No need for you to come find me. I simply send you to the trash can.

For all the good the Internet does, for all the bringing of us all together through "mail," I, for one, am glad the junk e-mails have died…
Goodbye, Sarah, we only corresponded for such a short time.
David? David, where are you now that you're not chained to your computer sending those moment by moment Obama updates?
Not to worry … when I am most concerned, I'll look you up online.
