»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Florence Downtown Development Corp. on Monday recognized outgoing Mayor Frank Willis and councilmen Bobby Holland and Rick Woodard for their support of downtown revitalization.

George Jebaily and Tom Ewart presented the city leaders with plaques on behalf of the corporation, a city-established nonprofit organization.

The mayor and council members of 13 years will be replaced by Mayor-elect Stephen J. Wukela and new council members Steve Powers and Octavia Williams-Blake in an installation ceremony scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 17.

Although the current leaders have attended their last regular meeting, they still have one more special called meeting to attend. Council will meet at 1 p.m. Nov. 17, five hours before the new council is inaugurated, for an executive session on a city court personnel matter.
