Members of Marlboro County School District’s Board of Trustees received information on a “Consumer Price Index adjustment for properties other than principle residences for school operations.”
During a regular meeting Monday, Superintendent Alisa Goodman presented information on increasing debt service millage by 4.8 mills to maintain instructional programs.
Randall Malichi, the district’s public information officer, said the millage increase isn’t a property tax increase.
The additional mills would generate about $288,000 and will only be applied to businesses, automobiles or recreational vehicles and all other property.
Those owners would pay about $28, Malichi said.
The millage increase would last for one year.
Malichi said the additional funds would help the district deal with the recent round of state budget cuts.
Goodman also provided information on an architect’s timeline for approved projects in the district.
Some projects include roofing and air conditioning units at Marlboro County High School, and a new gym and classrooms at Clio Elementary/Middle School.
