Coast Guard officials say two New Jersey boaters are safe and in good condition after their vessel sank off the South Carolina coast.

The Coast Guard said the 46-foot sport fisher, Vision Quest, sank Monday morning north of Winyah Bay. Thirty-nine-year-old Gary Pache and 35-year-old Brent Burman of Cherry Hill, N.J., abandoned the vessel for an inflatable boat.

The men were picked up by another boat responding to an urgent marine broadcast.

Coast Guard pollution responders are working with vessel owner Pache to secure and salvage the vessel, which had about 500-gallons of diesel fuel on board when it sank.

The Coast Guard said a diesel fuel sheen was spotted Monday morning at the entrance of Winyah Bay, but there have been no reports of wildlife or other environmental impact.
