»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Florence man was arrested Tuesday after deputies say they discovered about $8,000 in cocaine and marijuana in the sport utility vehicle he was driving, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

Tyrone Andre Burgess, 38, of 2216 Francis Marion Road faces cocaine trafficking, disregarding a stop sign and simple possession of marijuana charges, according to the release.

The incident happened at 2:20 a.m. on East Carolina Avenue outside Hartsville when a deputy noticed a white GMC Yukon failed to stop at two stop signs. During the traffic stop, the deputy noticed the smell of marijuana and called for backup, according to the release. Deputies found $7,800 in cocaine and $150 in marijuana in the vehicle.

Burgess remained in custody at the Darlington County jail on a $25,665 bond at press time Wednesday.
