»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Florence man was arrested after police say he took two handfuls of cash from a convenience store Wednesday, Florence Police Lt. James Rodgers said.

Lavance Addison III, 34, of 1136 Hollings Ave. is charged with strong armed robbery and resisting arrest, Rodgers said.

The incident happened at 12:45 a.m. at the Save-Way store on Coit Street when a patron reached across the counter and grabbed money from the cash drawer as the cashier was taking his payment, Rodgers said. The man ran from the scene, but was captured by police about a block away from the scene.

Addison remained in custody at the jail in Effingham at press time Wednesday on a $5,000 surety bond.
