Eight DCSD teachers graduate leadership academy

ROCK HILL – Eight Darlington County teachers were among the first group of Pee Dee Leadership Academy candidates who graduated on May 8, with their master of education in educational leadership degrees from Winthrop University.

Sixteen students received the M. Ed. in EDLD through participation in the “Pee Dee Leadership Academy,” a grant funded by the S.C. Commission on Higher Education. The purpose of the grant is to help provide new principal leaders for schools in high-need areas of the state.

Graduates from Darlington County were Marilyn Bostick, Von Cranford, Tara Dubose, Kristen Hopkins, Susan
Lear, Erin Sawyer, Carla Watford and Pamala Williams. Graduates from Clarendon County were Linda Gray and Cindi Wallace.

From Marion County, graduates were Regina Gilchrist, Pamelia Liely-Brown, Martina Rush and Cassandra Strickland. Other graduates were Jason Spangler from Marlboro County and Carolyn Newsome from Sumter.

Another seven students will complete their M. Ed. requirements this summer: Debra Williams, Darlington County; Kim Mack, Florence; Lonner Lee, Marion County; Selena Blue, La’Jamea Dixon, Clifton Harrington and Barbara McCall, Marlboro County.
