Council seeking members, supporters
Dear Editor,
On behalf of the Board of Directors for The Arts Council of Marion County, I wish to extend to everyone a very heartfelt "Thank You" for all of your support in our current year events. We have begun our membership drive for 2008-2009. The Arts Council of Marion County has experienced a great year and we intend to keep it going for all of you. If you haven't received your membership application and our Calendar of Events, please let me know.
Since my time as executive director, I have met the most wonderful and gracious people. It has been quite an experience for me and one I hope to continue in the years to come. I hope to meet many more of you. Thank you for welcoming my family to your wonderful area in such a way that we feel “at home.” What a great feeling that is! Call me at (843) 423-6636!

Star & Enterprise to publish candidate endorsement letters in May, June
Dear readers,
In light of the upcoming special state and local primaries on June 10, the Star & Enterprise is soliciting Letters to the Editor where you can endorse your candidate of choice. Here are the rules:
Letters may be the opinion of a person or group. Letters must be signed with a contact telephone number.
No names will be withheld and no anonymous letters will be published. This is not the time to engage in slander, libel or assassinate a candidate’s character. It is the opportunity to tell people where you stand and why. We will not publish statements we know to be false.
We published endorsement letters received by noon on May 21 in the May 28 newspaper. We will run letters received by noon on May 29 in the June 4 issue.
We hope to do this again before the November general election. Thank you for submitting your Letters to the Editor. If you have any question about this, call me at (843) 423-2050.
