Early morning crash kills one in Georgetown County

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Georgetown County Thursday morning. According the SCHP website, the incident happened around 4:15 a.m. on Highway 701 near the Green Acres Trailer Park.

Trooper Sonny Collins said the driver of a 1998 Chevrolet ran off the road, struck a tree and was then thrown from the vehicle. The driver died at the scene.

No word yet on the victim's identity.
