On many Grand Strand roads, motorcycles outnumber cars.
And one of the places attracting bikers is HB Spokes on the North end.
Fire burned the bar last September, but now it's back in business.
And it rolled out the red carpet for the Harley-Davidson spring rally.
Third grade teacher Martha Hemrick, from Kernersville, North Carolina, is not an ordinary competitor in a simulated drag race, she won the race.
Hemrick says, "That's the first time I’ve raced like that but I have raced at the drag strip a few times at Farmington in north Carolina, so I race there every once in a while."
Employees at HB Spokes say the mock drag racing set up for Harley week is the only one of its kind in the world and having it here is just a small way for them to say thank you to their customers.
Keith Rogers, HB Spokes manager says, "Everybody here, the staff and all are very happy that we have all these customers, the vendors have showed up, we had a great turnout and we're all appreciative of it."
Rogers says the new layout makes it possible for about 3500 bikes to fit on the property.
Employees say it's not just the wide variety of vendors bringing people from miles away, it's also the friendly staff, and rally staples like burn-out pits, live music, food, and of course the hundreds of motorcycles that are on display.
People like Jamy Rice, with Teresi Enterprise, who make it a point to go out of their way to get to HB Spokes, say the ride is well worth it.
Rice says, "I travel the U.S. and I go to every major bike event and put on shows, this is probably one of the coolest venues in the U.S. and I can honestly say that."
Mary Hemrick says she plans to come back to HB Spokes, even if it means a couple days away from her third graders.
And if you don't have a motorcycle, don't worry, you can still enjoy all the activities at HB Spokes.
They have a parking lot with a shuttle service that will take you right to the front door.
