An early morning car crash claimed the lives of a Marion County mother and daughter Tuesday as they were heading to school. Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson identifies the victims as 39 year-old Jakkie Williams Parker of Marion and her 15 year-old daughter Myla Brooke Parker. Richardson said the accident involved only one car and apparently it ran off the road and struck a tree.
Trooper Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the incident happened shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Laughlin Road, just off Highway 76 near Turner's BP station.
Both victims died at the scene.
