Students from Britton’s Neck Elementary School recently experienced the thrill of public performance in Myrtle Beach when selected students from the Afterschool Program traveled to a Pelicans baseball game to perform the National Anthem. After the April 16 performance, the students remained to watch the game. Students learned the etiquette of a public performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” as well as the history and story behind the anthem. They also learned the rules and procedures of baseball. The outstanding behavior of the students was recognized by many. One of the students was interviewed on the scoreboard! Another student won a dinner at a Myrtle Beach restaurant. They were able to talk to some of the players and get autographs as well. After the hard work of learning the song and the basics of baseball, the day was enjoyed by all.
