Kudos to all who cared enough to sound off when Marion County’s environment was threatened recently by plans to spread bio-solids, treated sewage, on farmland.
Thanks goes to those who passed out petitions, signed petitions, sent faxes, mailed letters and made telephone calls to place pressure on those who have the ability to change things. Your voices were heard.
I know for many of you, it just feels good to make a difference — to be heard ... have your voices heeded.
Had things gone differently, and those who have the ability to pull strings and thwart public desire been unable or unwilling to heed your voices, you still are to be commended. You did what most do not — you backed up your complaints with action .... and your actions prevailed for your cause. Congrats!
Perhaps now you can begin attending county council and city council meetings and having your say heard in those arenas as well.
You have proven that together, you are a formidable force. Don’t let the day-to-day things that need your attention go slipping by because the need does not appear to be so pressing. The need for you to get involved in Marion County politics, activities, ventures and venues is there.
Now that you’ve gotten involved in one matter, stay involved. You can continue to feel good about having your say and being heard. There are decisions being made every day that need your attention.
You can continue to make a difference. Don’t stop now.
