Florence School District 1 is seeking input from students, employees and the community, including professional designers, as the district revamps its logo, tag line and colors.
The deadline for submissions is Monday.
“In order to launch our (marketing) plan when it is completed, we are looking for a new look that unifies and truly reflects the students, residents and breadth of our district,” Pam Little-McDaniel, the district’s director of public information, said in a press release issued by the district.
The district is looking for a “clean and recognizable district logo, and a tag line (short phrase or slogan) that describes the district and reflects its diverse population and new district colors.
Little-McDaniel said in a telephone interview the district’s new marketing plan “came at the direction of the school board.”
The district had a focus group meeting in April with about 50 parents and community members for suggestions on developing a comprehensive marketing strategy. The group discussed the district’s strengths, opportunities available to the district, as well as its image.
Information received from the group will be used in writing the marketing plan, Little-McDaniel said.
Guidelines for submitting designs include:
- Designs should be no smaller than 6-by-6 inches and no larger than 8.5-by-11 inches for each entry, and must be mounted on a 8.5-by-11 inch white foam core board, tag board or cover stock in horizontal format only.
- The designs also should include your name, complete mailing address and phone number on the back. Add school and grade if applicable.
When creating the design, district officials said one should consider the following:
- The legal name of the school district is Florence School District One, and it serves more than 14,000 students.
- The core values and the district’s mission statement available at the district’s Web site, www.fsd1.org.
No designs or submissions will be returned and are considered donations and the property of Florence 1, according to the release. All concepts, names and designs (in all or in part) may be used at the sole discretion of the district. All designs will be considered for further development.
Submissions can be mailed to “Design Our Future,” Florence School District 1, c/o Pam Little-McDaniel, Office of Public Information, 319 S. Dargan St., Florence. Electronic submissions, in addition to the paper submission, can be e-mailed to plittlemcdaniel@fsd1.org.
