N.C. man sentenced in Dillon drug case

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A North Carolina man has been sentenced for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, U.S. Attorney W. Walter Wilkins said in a press release.

U.S. District Judge R. Bryan Harwell of Florence sentenced 27-year-old Augustin Dominguez-Martinez of Candor, N.C., to five years in prison.

In October 2007, Dillon police stopped Dominguez-Martinez on Interstate 95 for a traffic violation. Based on his nervous behavior and inconsistent answers to questions, the officer sought and obtained consent to search his car. During the search, a kilogram of cocaine was found hidden under his back seat.

The case, which also was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney A. Bradley Parham of the Florence office.
