A former daycare employee has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for committing or attempting a lewd act on a child younger than 16, 12th Circuit Solicitor Ed Clements III said.

Steven McFadden, 35, of 568 N. Karl Floyd Road, Scranton was arrested June 5, 2006, and charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor younger than 11 and committing or attempting a lewd act on a child younger than 16, according to Lake City police reports.

The first charge stemmed from an incident that took place between between Jan. 1, 2002, and March 15, 2005, at a home day care located on Morris Street in Lake City, reports showed.

The second incident, which involved a different victim, took place between Aug. 1, 2003, and March 29, 2006, also at the day care, reports showed.

McFadden pleaded guilty to the lesser charge Tuesday after his trial began in Florence, Clements said.
