Both sides of Wilson Rd. were lined full of cars this afternoon. Most belonged to community members, forced to say goodbye to two of its own…too soon.
"What we have to do as a community and family and friends and concerned citizens is give our support to the family and let them know that whether or not we say anything or not, a pat on the back, a nod of the head, a shake of the hand, is an indication of our being with them,” said Allie Brooks, a family friend.
It has only been one week since the accident took place that left Bernadette Robinson and her fourteen year old son the sole survivors from an entire family that was in the wreck. But as Robinson walked inside the church to say goodbye to two of children, she literally had an entire community behind her.
"The only thing that you can do is to try and help them, and pray for them, and lead them through the situation, the community has been calling and praying for them, and somehow someway, they'll survive,” said Solomon Eddy Jr., a family friend for several years.
Community members say that while a tragedy like this causes pain for everyone, it brings out the best in a neighborhood that has now had to experience the worst.
