Coastal Carolina University’s board of trustees approved its budget for the upcoming 2008-09 year, including several increases. The $92.8 million budget includes a tuition increase for in-state students by $525 per semester, raising the total to $4325 per semester. Out-of-state tuition will increase to $9,045, an increase of $750 per semester.
According to CCU spokesperson Mona Prufer, students will also pay $200 more for room and board during the next school year, bringing that total to $3,540 per semester.
Nearly two thirds of the tuition funds will be applied to bond debt that the board approved in February for campus construction and maintenance. The rest will be used for operations. There are also new faculty positions in the budget, and a new committee will be formed to work with CCU President David DeCenzo on improving the administrative function of the University.
The board also approved a discretionary spending plan for the president for 2008-2009. It did not disclose that amount.
