The summer tourist season is here and that means millions of people will vacation on the Grand Strand.
Many of those people head for straight for Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.
Over the years it has been the "go to" place for vacationers.
But recently, Myrtle Beach city officials have talked about putting and end to activities that bring people to the area, specifically the May bike weeks and the end of the school year senior weeks.
Stephanie, from York, South Carolina said when she was a teenager she used to come to Myrtle Beach every summer, but now it’s not place she wants to bring her family.
Stephanie said, "But I have a son and we usually go to Kerr beach because it's friendlier, my son wanted to come to Myrtle Beach, so we came and we'll see and we probably won't come back for a while, not until he's older."
Some teenagers on Ocean Boulevard, many of them specifically in the city to celebrate their graduation by coming to the beach for senior week said they come to have fun and relax, not to cause any trouble.
"It’s a good place to be, its fun you don't have to worry about anything you can just walk down the street with your friends and hang out." said Chelsea Duncan, a senior from Virginia.
But it's the hanging out part that is discouraging some people from coming to Ocean Boulevard and enjoying themselves.
Stephanie said, "Not more than, not more than once, just to give him the experience, until his senior week."
Monday morning, Myrtle Beach city council members are scheduled to discuss the May and June events in the city.
City spokesman Mark Kruea told News13 that the issues involving the events don't have anything to do with whom someone is or what they drive, rather what they are doing.
