A crash at the intersection of Highway 707 and Bay Road in the Burgess Community tied up traffic for nearly an hour Sunday afternoon.

A Chevrolet truck skidded off the road and flipped onto its side in a ditch around 4:30.

The truck was heading north on Highway 707, swerved to miss a car, and rolled over into the ditch, according to Lt. Bob Beres with the Highway Patrol.

Beres identified the driver as 30 year old Benjamin Crawford of Virginia.

Crawford faces a DUI charge from the accident and was not wearing his seatbelt in the crash, according to Beres.

Medics took one person, a passenger in the truck, to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Horry County Fire-Rescue battalion chief, Dan Shankle.

One other person inside the truck and the driver were uninjured, according to rescue crews.

Highway Patrolman performed a field sobriety test on Crawford, then arrested him and took him to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Crawford remained jailed awaiting a bond hearing on the charge as of this posting.
