A mother and son were arrested in connection to an early Saturday morning stabbing in Coward.
Teresa Lynn Lee, 39, of 3370 Woodland Road and her son, 22-year old Michael Christopher Lee of 609 East Friendfield Road were arrested at 5:52 a.m. Sunday.
Both are charged with second degree lynching for their role in a fight that occurred between them and William Robert Flowers, 46, of 3207½ S. U.S. 52.
Flowers was charged Saturday with assault and battery with intent to kill, according to Florence County Detention Center booking reports.
Camp said several people were “highly intoxicated,” and a fight happened while Flowers attempted to “pack up and move from the U.S. 52 residence.”
“There was a bunch of alcohol and a bunch of people raising Cain,” Camp said. “Flowers pulled a knife after several fists were thrown.”
Camp said Flowers stabbed both Lee and her son during the fight.
“He cut the son, and then the mother steps in, and he cuts her, too," he said. “Someone got the knife away from (Flowers), and the mother and son jumped on him and went to town kicking and beating him.”
Lee and her son went to a local hospital for treatment but left before an investigator arrived, Camp said.
They were arrested once the sheriff's office determined a charge and issued outstanding warrants for Lee and her son, Camp said.
Additional charges are pending further investigation.
