»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Republican primary election for Darlington County Council seat District 7 was about as close as it gets.

After all votes were counted on Tuesday night, incumbent Alex “Buz” Shaw took in four more votes than challenger David Stanton.

The final count was Shaw 235, Stanton 231.

The will be a mandatory recount today at the Darlington County Voter’s Registration office.

On Wednesday, Shaw said he would wait until the recount was completed before making any comment.

Stanton offered his congratulations to Shaw. “Congratulations to Buz on a race well run,” he said Wednesday afternoon.

After the recount, the Republican nominee will run unopposed in the November election.
