A recount in the Florence mayoral race will take place Thursday morning after unofficial results show local attorney Stephen Wukela one vote ahead of incumbent Frank Willis.
The recount will occur at 10 a.m. at Florence County Election Central, which is located in the former Florence County Library.
The first step of the process will be the certification of the election, said Steve Love, acting director of the Florence County Elections Commission. That’s when the Board of Canvassers will look at any provisional or challenged ballots, as well as any paper ballots that had problems.
Then, after everything that can be counted is validated, officials will do a recount of all the ballots.
