12-year-old Hartsville girl attacked by dog

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A 12-year-old girl was attacked by a pit bull at 9 a.m. this morning at 1212 Myrtle Street in Hartsville this morning, according to Hartsville Police Chief Tim Kemp.

The girl was taken to the hospital; however, she was later released.

The dog had apparently broken from its leash and came from a residence on Sixth St., Kemp said. The owner of the dog was not home when officers arrived. Kemp said the dog's owner is currently incarcerated and he does not know whether or not the dog was being cared for.

Despite the attack, Kemp said the girl's injuries did not appear to be serious.

The dog is now in quarantine at animal control.
