A responsible City Council is one that will respond to the needs and request of its city residents and we currently have that in many of our elected officials. We moved to the Forest Hills area residing on Park Avenue about three years ago. We began to experience an enormous amount of traffic in the neighborhood, some at what seemed to be approaching twice the posted 30-mph speed limitations.
We placed a call to Councilman Rick Woodard, explaining our concerns and he was quick to respond to the aid of our neighborhood with some much-needed relief.
First, he explored the situation by having the proper authorities place information detection devices to assess the needs of our neighborhood problem.
Next came the speed trailer that notified drivers of his or her actual speed verses the posted limit.
Our neighborhood was amazed to see within a few days that notification device started to show some improvement to our speeding problems.
Next came the placement of traffic officers that began to patrol the Wisteria Drive and Park Avenue traffic flow.
This enforcement has proven to be even more successful in controlling the amount of “cut-through” traffic and speeding violators.
We found it refreshing to experience an elected official willing to help with the concerns of its citizens, listen to our needs and take action in order to find a solutions and results.
Rick Woodard listened; he responded and produced results. We need individuals like Rick Woodard, his contributions and responsiveness to succeed in the growth and safety to the city of Florence.
Let’s keep Rick Woodard.
