For the last several weeks, I have been listening to Sen. Lindsey Graham’s radio/television spots. He probably really believes all the things he says in those spots. But I know better. Last year he was booed here in South Carolina when he called us all racist bigots for not wanting him, John McCain and Ted Kennedy to grant illegal aliens amnesty.
He says he supports the troops yet he does everything to undermine their effectiveness while trying to keep up the front of noble citizen. He is more concerned with the conditions and treatment of the terrorists than our own troops. He has interfered with our interrogation techniques. He is more concerned about our image than with our security (energy and national security).
I lead a delegation to visit one of our two wounded warriors in Kershaw County in ’06, I was extremely impressed by the bravery of a young female soldier in the face of her terrible physical wounds. During her interview by the accompanying news reporter, I asked her if she had received her purple heart. She said yes. I asked her who presented it to her. I was disappointed to learn that John McCain had, not a member of our delegation. I found that the second wound warrior was treated the same way. I contacted members of our Washington delegation. John Spratt to his credit made every effort to contact Crystal and Mark even attending a reception for Crystal in the city of Camden. Jim DeMint contacted both of the warriors. However, we were told Lindsey was too busy conducting the business of the people of South Carolina to take time out to visit or call. I thought that was a fine example of Lindsey’s support of the troops.
Having analyzed the action/inaction of Lindsey Graham, I highly recommend we as citizens of this great country replace him with an honorable man. That man would be Buddy Witherspoon, a doctor specializing in dental care. I have known Dr. Witherspoon for some time. His integrity is beyond reproach. The doctor has shown me many times that he cares for people, without any conditions. It is now time for us to clean house and replace the due nothing politicians in Washington, D.C. Vote June 10 and get the ball rolling.
