DARLINGTON — Darlington County sheriff’s deputies on Thursday arrested two men in the second serious assault incident on Mary Drive, a mobile home park off McIver Road, near Darlington in as many days.
At about 10:45 a.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a report of two men beating another man, a 24-year-old, according to a news release from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
When the two suspects saw the deputy, they fled into some nearby woods. Other officers arrived, including a drug/tracking dog unit.
Deputies tracked the two to another mobile home in the park where they were hiding in a bedroom. Deputies arrested the two and took them to the Darlington County Detention Center.
Edward Agbo, 29, of Limit Street, Darlington, and Elijah N. Ross, 20, of Rhodes Community Road, Darling-ton, are both charged with second-degree lynching, according to the release. Deputies also obtained warrants for two other suspects.
Authorities said the motive for the attack is unknown. The victim was not attacked with any weapon, according to the release.
The victim was treated at a local hospital and released, according to the release.
Just one day before, deputies arrested five people in connection with a shooting in the same area. No one was hit by gunfire in the incident.
