A Williamsburg County shooting suspect faces a murder charge after the victim of a May 17 nightclub shooting died Tuesday evening, Williamsburg County Chief Deputy Sheriff Dwayne Wilson said.

Javon Rivers of Kingstree is wanted in connection with the death of 27-year-old Derial McCrea, Wilson said. Rivers is considered armed and dangerous.

The suspect is accused of shooting McCrea once in the face at about 2:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Sadie McBride Night Club near Kingstree. The two men knew each other and had been arguing earlier that day, Wilson said.

McCrea was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Charleston after the shooting but died as a result of his injuries about 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wilson said.

Anyone with information on Rivers’ whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (843) 355-6381 or Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at (843) 667-8477. Callers need not reveal their identities.
