Collision claims life of woman in Hartsville

According to Darlington County Coroner J. Todd Hardee, Nikki Nicole Outen, 23, of Lancaster died when the vehicle she was driving collided with an oncoming car at about 10 p.m., Saturday.

The collision occurred on Lakeview Blvd., near Hartsville.

Outen was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Lance Cpl. Bob Beres with the S.C. Highway Patrol, Outen was driving a 1994 Buick traveling south on Lakeview Blvd. when she ran off the right side of the road.

Outen then overcorrected while attempting to regain control of the car and hit 46-year old Juanita James’ 1986 GMC Jimmy.

James, who was wearing a seatbelt, was rushed to Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center for treatment.

There were three passengers in James’ car. Two were airlifted to a hospital in Columbia and the third was rushed to McLeod Regional Medical Center.

Outen was not wearing a seatbelt.
