LORIS -- Authorities have cancelled an Amber Alert for a Loris toddler and her mother.

Officials say they were abducted from their Loris home Friday night, and they were the subject of an Amber Alert and the object of a two-state search.

The incident was first reported to police shortly after 9 p.m. Friday.

An Amber Alert was issued a couple hours later.

Two-year-old Namie Vaught and her mother, 20-year-old Evette Nanette Vaught, were last seen heading north on US 701 out of Loris and toward Tabor City, N.C., officials said.

The suspect in the abduction was Marco Murice Vaught, father and husband of the missing pair.

"Of course, all situation for this type, they are serious and the fact that we don't know and the fact that the individual did take them is sufficient for us to be concerned about it," said Loris Police Chief Joseph Vaught.

Family members told WBTW News13's Rashad Midani that Marco Vaught has taken immediate family away from the home on other occasions, including twice this week and once last week.

Officials located the trio in Brunswick County, North Carolina early Saturday evening.

Authorities say both of the victims involved, are safe.
