A former republican candidate for Horry County council seat district 10, 57-year-old Graham Charles “Sandy” Rogers of Green Sea, faces charges of unlawful use of 911 numbers, according to jail officials.
Horry County Police arrested Rogers around midnight Thursday after police said he made non-emergency calls to Horry County 911.
Rogers told News13 in a telephone interview following his bond hearing Friday that he called 911 Wednesday night to report a man who was towing his car and the man wouldn’t let him get his belongings out of the car.
The man hooked Rogers’ car to the tow truck, then tried to run him over, according to Rogers.
Emergency 911 dispatchers asked Rogers to call the non-emergency line and he said he did that, but Wednesday night Rogers said Horry County Police showed up to his home and “beat on the door” and “waited two hours” before finally leaving, according to Rogers in the telephone interview.
Rogers said Horry County officers told him to stop calling 911 and there wouldn’t be a problem, but instead officers returned Thursday night and arrested him, according to Rogers.
In the interview, Rogers told News13 he was upset because the judge, “Wouldn’t give me a P-R on this non-sense.”
Myrtle Beach Police arrested Rogers on April 24 following a traffic stop and charged Rogers with driving under the influence, driving under suspension, two counts of simple assault and battery, disorderly conduct and improper vehicle license.
A Myrtle Beach judge Rogers’ bond at $3,621 on the charges in April.
Rogers was currently out on bond awaiting trial on the Myrtle Beach charges when county police arrested him Thursday night.
Rogers is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing on the most recent charges.
Rogers lost the June 10 primary with less than one percent of the vote against Danny J. Hardee, Jody Prince, and Larry D. Bratcher.
Rogers is free tonight on a $1,000 bond.
