A Florence woman was arrested on child neglect charges after deputies said she cut her husband across the chest while he was holding their two-year-old child, Florence County Sheriff’s Lt. Brett Camp said.
Belinda Branch, 33, of 2223 Ranch Road is charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person by a legal custodian, Florence County bookings reports show.
Deputies said on June 26, the suspect confronted her husband at their home with a kitchen knife and slashed him across the chest, Camp said.
Authorities were summoned to the residence a short time later after her husband retaliated, he said.
Deputies said the suspect was sitting in a recliner with the two-year-old when her husband flipped the chair over, causing both to fall to the floor, Camp said.
The suspect’s husband, William Christopher Branch, 35, also was arrested and faces criminal domestic violence and child neglect charges, he said.
The child, who wasn’t injured during the incident, was placed in the custody of a family member.
Belinda Branch was released June 28 from the Florence County jail while William Branch was released Tuesday after posting bond.
